The Eee PC by Asus is quite amazing. Full of features into a small 10 inch, 9 inch, or 7 inch lightweight widescreen laptop, this thing is great for airplanes, vehicle travels, as well as home use.

After trying it for a few days I just love the simplicity it carries. The one I tried came with a Celeron processor which was a bit slow but good for general tasks such as Word processing and general internet cruising. The built in wireless card is definitely not meant for downloading software or long videos as it will be quite slow. Because of its small elite design, they couldn't quite fit a cd disk drive, but externals can always suffice. If you plan on taking it with you on an airplane you can download your dvd's and watch them as you go. The cd drive will take a lot of energy from the battery, since it doesn't come with it, the Eee PC can last up to 8 hours on battery power which is quite amazing for such a small feature filled machine.

Cons:

I don't recommend this laptop if you're going to use it on a day-to-day basis for online video playback (unless you're on a different wireless card), or for heavy work load. It definitely was designed for general internet use.

-----

Depends on what model you purchase but it has optional features of two built in microphones (echo reduction), an optional built in webcam, 1 Ethernet jack, 2 USB 2.0 ports, (optional) SD card slot (transfer photo's, music, videos, etc), 1 microphone jack,1 headphone jack, (depends) 1GB RAM, and (depends) 120GB HDD. It comes in about 4-6 stylish colors and styles and is quite well for a travel sized laptop.

We've all heard about Windows 7 and its new features that give a big "Wow". What about the features, what's the goal, and why so soon?

First off, Windows 7 is geared to more usability for the users. They've somewhat included some Apple Iphone features to the desktop environment. The "pinch" image zoom, drag, move, and scroll, all similar to the Iphone. They really aimed it toward the touch screen interface than anything else. It's what everyone calls "moving along".

Everyone who uses Vista knows about the Gadget feature Microsoft introduced. Due to the user complaints they've got rid of the Gadgets toolbar and made them part of the Desktop. Now you drag them all over your Dekstop as if it's a playground. Take a look for yourself:

Now that you've just been shocked by how the desktop looks, here's a couple more:

Why So Soon?

Windows 7 is what Microsoft call a "maintenance" release. It's the version that fixes all the mistakes they've made in Vista and changed/added things based on user feedback.

Microsoft say this is going to be a stable version, or a "more" stable version due to the fact that they developed each new feature all the way through before moving on to another, fixing all* (nearly all) the bugs for each new feature.

When Will It Be Released?

Microsoft project that it will be released within a year to a year in a half (give or take two years; Hey, it happened to Vista!).

The overall feel of Windows 7 is going to be great. However, their is one downfall to the overall product. Now that it's more geared to the touch screen interface, this means that we'll have to go out and buy ourselves a touchscreen monitor if we want the full product experience. If you have a laptop, that means going out to by a new one. The good thing about this though, is if you've been wanting a 24 or 26inch monitor, wait until Windows 7 is released, the monitors that aren't touch will reduce in price, and a bargains will definitely arise.

All Threads have been restored and all 8,000 posts have been brought back. The only thing we've lost was all the new threads and posts, which were about 20. The backup of those went corrupt and I was unable to restore them during the restoration process. However, everything seems to run fine now. If you notice any problems on the site, please do post them up.

Changes to the site

The Rc-palace community has been available for quite some time now. It's time to bring it back to a live active community everyone can enjoy. Some changes will be made during the next few months in order to help aid the communities life.
